The Government Inspector
Sunday, October 28 at 2:00 PM (signup deadline was 12 pm, Sep 26)
Shakespeare’s Lansburgh Theatre, 450 7th Street, NW. Fully accessible.
Gogol’s “Government Inspector" is a satire on corruption in local politics (imagine!); a government inspector is reportedly being sent to investigate the misdeeds of the mayor and his cronies. When a civil servant visiting from Saint Petersburg is quickly assumed to be the dreaded inspector, and the local officials lavishly seek to curry the favor of this “foppish civil servant with a wild imagination," chaos ensues. This rollicking production of Gogol’s comedy of errors is directed by Michael Kahn and stars Derek Smith. Discounted group tickets for this matinee performance at the Shakespeare’s Lansburgh Theatre are $47.50 each for members and guests.
