The past year has been a tremendous time of change and growth for Capitol Hill Village. We now represent a bourgeoning community of residents committed to living out their lives on Capitol Hill. During the year, we welcomed new leadership on the staff and Board of Directors, found a new home for our volunteer office at the new Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital, and added a new master-level social work internship program.
Through our fundraising efforts for the past fiscal year, we were included in the Catalogue for Philanthropy of Greater Washington’s 2011-12 Guide to Giving and participated for the second consecutive year in the Combined Federal Campaign. At a special event in support of the Stephen C. Rogers Memorial Fund, we raised $30,000 for our Membership Plus member-assistance program.
Because of its success, Capitol Hill Village continues to be a leader in the national aging-in-place village movement, and is increasingly recognized as a valued partner in our own Washington community. As one member noted, “I cannot imagine Capitol Hill without Capitol Hill Village.”
As we move into our fifth year, we look forward to a continuing role as a resource for information, services, personal fulfillment, and fun. The staff and Board will continue to call on members, volunteers, and other supporters for their generous donations of time, talent, and charitable contributions. We are enthusiastic about the challenges ahead and look forward to 2012.
